3 WAYS TO RESTYLE YOUR HOME AFTER THE HOLIDAYS

Chances are by now you have probably put up all of your holiday decor. If you haven’t, no shame! It was really hard to get myself to take them down this year too. However, once I did take them all down I really felt like our home was missing *something*. It was probably just the fact that our 7’ tall tree had been put away, but I still wanted to remedy this feeling!

Whenever I’m feeling like our home feels stale, I practice all three of the tips below to freshen up our home. Plus I always like to use this time as an excuse to tidy up our home and prepare it for the new year ahead.

  1. Get rid of all the clutter

I don’t know about you, but I always feel like our home gets super cluttered and crowded around the holidays. I can bear it through the holidays, but as soon as the decorations come down I’m always ready for a serious organizing overhaul. This past season I decided to completely re organize all of our closets - more to come on this later!

Who knows if it’s a kick of spring cleaning, but really decluttering our space and giving it a good deep clean really helps to see your home with a fresh perspective. This can help you realize where you need to re-style and where you want to reinvent the wheel a little.

2. Restyle with things you already have

I’ve said this before,  but you DON’T have to get new decor every season to make your home feel fresh and currant. All it takes is re-utilizing the items you already have. If you look at the items you already have and still don’t feel inspired to style with them, then try to introduce a new piece of decor. Some new finds that have excited my creativity are these large scale match boxes, my new match cloche, and this new coffee table book from Robert Stilin.

For me the place that always gets a refresh every season is our coffee table. I have about 3 different trays that I rotate throughout the seasons. From there its a fun game of styling with existing coffee table books, small items, and candles.

3. Implement fresh flowers in as many places as you can

This is probably the biggest thing that helps fill the post holiday home blues. Having a few grocery bought flowers styled in pretty vases around our home helps keep things feeling fresh and new.

I have recently discovered the joy of flower arranging. I’m nowhere near being a pro, but I was able to style $30 of grocery store flowers into a really beautiful arrangement for my parents NYE dinner. Visit the Reel on my insta to get a 60 second tutorial on how to create the look.
