WHY TABLE LAMPS AND MIRRORS ARE A CLASSIC COMBO

& HOW TO USE them

You all know I have a serious love for all things lighting. I really think that interior lighting is the best kept secret to having a well designed and functional home. So, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to you that today’s blog post is geared towards lighting  - table lamps to be exact. Today’s post is all about table lamps and their best friend - the mirror.

WHY TABLE LAMPS AND MIRRORS WORK TOGETHER

There are tons of reasons why I love mirrors in the home. Not only do they instantly make a space feel larger, but they also help light travel through the space. You can see how these would pair really well with table lamps, right? (see, you guys are already getting great at designing!)

When you place a lamp right in front of a mirror, it doubles the spread of the light being put off by the lamp. Not only do you get the immediate light from the lamp, but the mirror will bounce this light all around the room. By placing a mirror behind a lamp you’ll also see the shadows of the beam spread become more accentuated.

English Please:

When you put a lamp up against a wall, you see shadows or a line of light that casts out from the lamp shade. When you put this lamp up against a mirror, this beam of light is accentuated!

WHERE TO USE THEM

You can use this combo almost anywhere in your home. I would always suggest using this combo anywhere in your home you want more ambient lighting. This could be your bedroom on your night stand tables, your living room, the console in your entryway, or even your bathroom.

In our home I used this combo in our bedroom. We have really tall ceilings. So I knew that the mirror and lamp combo here should help highlight the height of the room. I went with these gold framed mirrors and these lucite lamps with a white shade. I really love how the lucite lamp base doesn’t interfere with the mirror. It almost makes the reflection feel larger and less obstructed!

CREATE YOUR OWN

You really can’t go wrong with pairing these table lamps and mirrors together. The only thing to pay attention to is the height of each piece, and if you are hanging your mirror or resting it on the table (that will change the height). Keep in mind if your mirror is smaller than you lamp this won’t reflect as much light through your space. Try out these combos in any space in your home and snap a pic with #snowstudioathome
