I have found the answer to having a cute area rug while living with a puppy and a (very) messy boy….FLOR TILES!!! Floor Tiles are modular tiles with a carpeted face and a rubber or non slip backing. They are WASHABLE, perfect for high impact areas, areas with a funky shape, and lend themselves to a really custom look. Most people associate floor tiles with commercial interior design. However, the company FLOR tiles really has hit a home run with more residential looking options.

How To Assemble

All you need to assemble your rug is the correct square footage of tiles, and a roll of their carpet tile attachment “stickers”. You place a sticker in each corner of the tile, and press them together like shown below. If you see any seams, just vacuum the seams out!

Why I Love Them

We have had these FLOR tiles in our home for the last 2 years, and I had them in my apartment before that. They have lasted us close to 4 years, and still look as good as new. The secret? YOU CAN WASH THE TILES. Yes, you guys. You can wash these suckers. No more stressing about a big red wine stain, a messy puppy accident, or muddy shoe marks.

The Test of Time

Another pro of these floor tiles is they can be arranged in a variety of different shapes, sizes and configurations. This means that you can use them in different layouts throughout your home, or as you transition through different apartments. This was the biggest selling point for me. I know that no matter where we live these carpet tiles can be used in any configuration throughout our home.

Here a few of my favorite designs from FLOR. They have the best textures and smalls scale patterns that will go well with almost anything! Don’t get me wrong I would love a really ornate area rug in here, but that just isn’t practical for where we are in life! These floor tiles are really affordable, extremely versatile, and will last you for ages.
