THE FOUR ESSENTIALS FOR HOSTING IN A SMALL APARTMENT

Bar Cart for Hosting

You know your girl loves to host. In fact, I would much rather host a dinner party at our place than go out to a restaurant. Over the last two and a half years I have slowly gathered Kitchenware essentials that have completely changed the way I host. These 4 things have not only made my job easier when hosting, but have also helped my small apartment handle a lot of people.

Can you believe we’ve had almost 25 people over in our 1,300 SF apartment and FED them all using these hacks?

Wine Glass Charms

I think it’s one thing to serve water out of a plastic cup, but whenever I can I always (I mean always) serve wine out of a stemmed wine glass. The only problem with this is that everyone always seems to loose their wine glass (especially after a couple of drinks..). I quickly discovered the need for wine glass charms for all of my wine glasses. They make everyone’s night easier, including mine because people keep track of their glass and don’t dirty more dishes!

Reusable and Upscale Acrylic Glasses and Plates

Even though I insist on using real china for wine, that doesn’t mean I want all of our guests using every nice dish we own! It’s all about balance - right? I’ve mentioned these before but these colored acrylic glasses and plates are a must when hosting. They look nicer than your typical disposable plastic ware, but serve the same function. I love these because I don’t have to worry about them falling on the floor and chipping, or worry about someone accidentally throwing them away!

Tiered Serving Stands

Did I mention our apartment is small? Not only is our apartment small, but so is our kitchen. We are lucky in that we have an island where we display almost all of the food when hosting. I quickly found that this island wasn’t big enough for all of our serving trays. That’s where these tiered serving stands come in handy! We have one that stored our normal plates in a tier of three, and then folds up when it’s done (perfect for storage). I love to use it when serving different deserts, or small appetizers.

Over the Sink Cutting Board to hide all the dirty dishes

This one is my favorite small apartment hosting hack. Since we serve from the island where the sink is, seeing dirty dishes pile up in the isn’t really a good look. I found myself washing dishes while people were over to try and keep things looking tidy, but that’s never fun! I finally found this over the sink cutting board partially hides all of the dirty dishes that are in the sink! Now I don’t have to worry about people seeing all of the dirty dishes, and can wait till their gone to clean up!

Now you’re ready to host! Cheers!

thanks for reading
