FOUR COVID FRIENDLY WAYS TO CELEBRATE HALLOWEEN
I don’t know about you but I’ve never been a big Halloween girl. I think I particularly lost my taste for it after college (too many gross frat halloween parties with too many people). Now the at the thought of anything halloween (other than decor) has me looking the other way. However this year I’m trying to use social distancing to celebrate halloween in a much more laid back, and honestly not spooky way at all.
Here are 4 super simple and socially distant ways you can celebrate this spooky holiday - even if you are really into the holiday!
host a small get together in your backyard
This is perfect if you find yourself already in a sort of “Covid Bubble” with your friends, family, or neighbors. Gather everyone in your bubble and celebrate halloween by turning your backyard or apartment into a Halloween haven. Throw on a couple of scary movies, set up a candy and sweets station, and you can even dress up have costume contest (really perfect for kiddos)!
Pumpkin carving party in the Park
This one is perfect for getting together with friends you might not have seen in a while. Head to a park nearby with a blanket, a couple of pumpkins, and carving utensils and you can do something festive with everyone while still staying outside and 6 feet away! Don’t forget to bring your own wine and snacks too!
Incorporate a mask into your costume
If you are a die-hard Halloween fanatic I doubt sitting this year’s trick or treat even crossed your mind. Luckily trick or treating is outside. However, get creative and incorporate a mask into your costume! It’s the best time to show off your new found mask making skills and use your mask as an accessory to ties your whole costume together.
Are you passing out candy? Explore different ways of pre-packaging candy goody bags so the kiddos can easily pick them up without rummaging through the whole bag of candy
Scary Movie Marathon
This is the option that Matt and I will be partaking in. Since we aren’t big halloween fanatics we will probably stay in, watch a scary movie (ok, maybe only half of one), and eat all the on sale Halloween candy!
So don’t feel like you have to miss out on Halloween this year. You can still have fun, and be safe by choosing any of these ideas! Would you rather stay in and not risk it? Totally fine too! Whatever you choose to do, have fun and be safe doing it!
