THE SIMPLE HACK TO KEEP YOUR PUMPKINS FROM ROTTING
Now that Halloween is over (phew), chances are you have a plethora of pumpkins and gourds on your front door. If you are anything like me you bought them a week, or maybe a few days, before Halloween - hey no judgement! With most pumpkins you’ll have a bout a 3 week lifespan before they start to rot. Unfortunately that gets your pumpkins lasting till right before Thanksgiving.
Instead of buying more pumpkins, what if you could extend the life of them! I recently learned this super simple trick to extend the life of your pumpkins.
GIVE YOUR PUMPKINS A BLEACH BATH
You can do this either as soon as you get your pumpkins (un-carved) or apply this solution to the inside as soon as you carve them. This simple step keeps the inside of your pumpkins from getting fuzzy, moldy, and rotting!
Here’s everything you need to to make your Bleach Bath Spray:
Clorox Regular Bleach with Cloromax ( a special kind of bleach that helps your flowers stay fresh!)
1 clean 5 gallon bucket
1 quart measuring cup or measuring spoon
Spray Bottle
THE SIMPLE Steps:
Measure 3 teaspoons of Bleach
Add bleach to 3 gallons of water
Fill spray bottle with the diluted black solution
Generously spray the inside and outside of your carved or un-carved pumpkin
This solution works on both your gourds and pumpkins! Now your pumpkins might even last a little past Thanksgiving!
