The best finishing touch for any room or space is a good quality piece of art. While you can buy artwork at places like Target and Home Goods, there is nothing like purchasing a piece of art from an artist. Now I know what your thinking - isn’t fine art really expensive? Yes, it can be (and it’s worth it)! But if you’re looking for a more affordable way to grow your art collection chances are your favorite artist offers a portion of their work as a fine art print medium that is at a more affordable price range.

What is a fine art print?

This affordable fine art medium is the artists way of offering their original artwork as printed good available for mass distribution. Fine art Prints are usually printed on a fine art photo paper and then framed. The artist may choose to add some applied gold leaf, painted layers, or gesso additions to the fine art print to give it a more believable “painted” look. Chances are, no matter the finishing touches, fine art prints will want to be framed with a matting and glass (instead of a floater frame like you might do for a canvas).

Why should you invest in these pieces?

I had a friend say to me once - “you’ll never be sad you have too much artwork”. I really feel that this piece of advice is true, especially if the pieces of art you have are of sentimental value (and good quality). No matter where you live, chances are, if you liked the piece of artwork enough to buy it in the first place, you’ll like it enough to find a place for it in your new home. Personally I am so excited to take my small (but growing) art collection along with me to our new home when that time comes! Plus, there’s something really special about allowing your art collection to grow with you as an individual. I can’t wait for my collection to get big enough and reminisce about when I got each piece.
