HOW I HAVE UPDATED OUR HOME OFFICE DURING QUARANTINE
HOW OUR OFFICE LOOKS 8 WEEKS LATER…
Well I don’t know about you, but we are certainly working from home longer than I thought we would be. At the beginning of quarantine, I shared an inside look at the office (or my side of it - yes Matt and I share an office) and things I have used to increase productivity. I can say that after 8 weeks of working from home, our second bedroom turned into our office has overflown with material samples, architectural drawings, and bins of colored pencils. This past weekend I did a full sweep of the room to see where we could do some improvements and make it more organized. It’s still a work in progress (so no updated photos yet), but here is where we have landed:
My New Desk
Yes, I did it. I got a sit/stand desk. The main reason for this is that I needed a much bigger desk. When I saw that IKEA came out with their standard white desk top in a sit/stand version, I couldn’t help myself! This one from IKEA is super minimal, large enough, and the crank seems to be good quality! I love how clean and simple It looks too. I can’t wait to share final pictures when it's all styled.
OTHER OPTIONS I CONSIDERED
New Table Lamps
Since this desk is so much bigger, I decided I NEEDED two table lamps. Ok, I didn’t really need two, but it really felt like it would help since Matt insists on the office blinds being closed whenever he is in the office with me …ugh office drama.

The New Desk Chair
You guys loved seeing this in my Instagram earlier this month. This chair was in my photographer’s office. She absolutely loved it, so I decided to spring for the chair too! It hasn’t come in yet, but I already know the quality of it is really great, especially for the affordable price tag. I can’t wait to use it! BTW they are doing a sale right now for 10% off with code EXTRA10.

How I’ve Started Storing Drawings
When designing from home, you learn to adapt your practices. For example, I printed off a huge set of drawings to begin sketching out details and elevations on. The only problem? The drawings are HUGE - like 42” x 36”. There really isn’t a great space for me to roll them out, except the floor. So, when I’m done with the drawings every day I have to roll them up. I found this cute little wire basket where these rolled up drawings now live.

How I’m Making Sense of All These Samples
Again, when designing from home our material resource library really shrinks down to what you can order online. This is something I really miss about working in the office. At work, we have a HUGE material resource library that has any and every material you could ever imagine. When quarantine started, we all grabbed what we could from the office and what pertained to our projects and brought them home. For the last 8 weeks, all of these samples have been piling up on our console table - stressful. I finally ordered these fabric baskets with little labels so I could get really organized.
OTHER OPTIONS I CONSIDERED
Needless to say, Matt is happy that I got things organized. I kept hearing “hints” that he was getting stressed out by my mess… whoops. I’m sure by the end of quarantine (whenever that is) we will do another office update. For now, I feel much more organized!
I want to hear about your home office set up. What is it like for you guys?
