MY PICNIC ESSENTIALS

Before quarantine I had been to about one picnic in my whole life. Now, considering that picnics are about the only socially safe thing to do I have been on a picnic almost every weekend for the last 2 months. Our first picnic started off with just a tote bag and drinking out of a bottle of wine - yup, we forgot glasses. Now, I would say we are picnic pros. Here is what we bring along to have the most successful afternoon picnic in the park.

The Affordable & Versatile Bag

The BEST picnic bag is this $37 beach bag from Amazon. It is perfect because it has a removable freezer compartment on the bottom, a small zipper compartment, and mesh sides (so it is really expandable). It comes in many different colors too, so you have lots of options to choose from!

The Picnic Blanket

Ours is from Target, and it works great. The underside is a vinyl type material, so it holds up well against wet grass. Plus, it rolls up really well!

Utensils & Serving Board

Our usual menu is a charcuterie, chips and dip board, lemon water, and rose. We’ve found this long and skinny serving board that fits perfectly in the picnic bag. For the water our corkcicle water bottle holds 25 oz, which is the perfect amount. Pictured here are my favorite plastic cups that we bring along for the lemon water. For the wine, we use tumblers from corkcicle - they are virtually destructible and keep the wine nicely chilled!

How to Bring Along Food

We swear by these Rubbermaid brilliance containers for any to-go meals. Usually I use these for bringing lunch to work. Now, they are the perfect picnic companion. I recommend getting the version of these with the little compartments to keep all of your food separated and prepped for display!

What I’m Wearing

I usually bring along a pair of sneakers to walk to the park, but I do like any excuse to get dressed up! I usually wear a flowy skirt or a summer dress. The one I’m wearing here is out of stock, so the one linked below is a close alternative! My earrings from Anthropoloigie, and are also sold out. Here are some close alternatives! These new mules are from Sam Edelman.
